The Carnavalet museum commemorates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Marcel Proust (1871-1922).The exhibition is devoted to the relationship between Marcel Proust and the city of Paris, where most of his existence takes place.The first part of the exhibition explores the Parisian universe of the writer. Marcel Proust’s life took place in the heart of a very small space, a quadrilateral stretching from Parc Monceau to Place de la Concorde, from Concorde to Auteuil, from Auteuil to Bois de Boulogne and to Etoile. Thanks to Paris, this brings him a decisive dimension in the awakening of his vocation. In addition, his discovery of artistic and social circles in Paris, the friendships and loves that arise there, strengthen the personality of the writer and lead him to the revelation of his vocation.The second part of the exhibition opens onto the fictional Paris created by Marcel Proust. The Prix d’Amérique is a horse race taking place on the last Sunday in January at the Vincennes racecourse.It is one of the three biggest international events with the Eliteloppet in Sweden and the Hambletonian Stakes in the United States.The race is an International Group race reserved for horses from 4 to 6 years old.The first edition took place in 1920 and ran over 2500m.During the Second World War, the Prix d’Amérique never took place. He was resumed on liberation in 1945.Currently, the race is run over 2700m.This year, the Grand Prix d’Amérique (celebrating its 100th anniversary) will take place on Sunday January 26, 2020, at the Vincennes racecourse.
